Hey guys! Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I can't figure out how to do it. I'm always seeing layouts like this or this, and I assume they're open to borrow provided it's asked to leave the credit in the coding, but how would I put it in my own journal? I've tried copying and pasting bits and I'm stumped. To be more specific, I could probably figure it out if I was able to see one of these layouts coded just to see where things would go, or if anyone can explain it like I'm a five year old? Thank you so much in advance!

Are you trying to copy the code that you see when you view the source of the page?

I was trying to copy everything within the style brackets and apply it with a more basic code but I think I'm not copying the right things.

It uses css stylesheets. Copying and pasting directly into your account won't work. It will take more than that.

[info]tessisamess and [info]chestnutgallery both have some really great, free, and customizable layouts, though.

Those are my usual go-tos, I was just curious about a few others and where people seem to be getting their coding from. I appreciate your help though!

you could always try asking them for the codes they use. they'll either say yes, no, or ignore you.

It might have been a little sarcastic, but it's an honest response.

I've asked a couple of people myself and they've been generous.

It just feels awkward to ask a random person for their codes, haha. I know that's basically what I'm doing here now but at least it's a resource community. I could give it a try though. I figured I'd ask here first in case anyone had them, since they seem to be pretty common in journals.

in my experience, people have been very, very nice about sharing layout codes if you ask!
