does anyone know where to get coding similar to these journals: [info]asme, [info]brighton, [info]sonnenschein. i understand that they're edits from [info]coding but i have tried to do my own edits but nothing is working. i would definitely give credit where credit is due and do my own set of edits. i just need a solid base to work off of that's not the [info]coding layouts because those aren't working for me.

~coding layouts are all s1 layouts, and you have to assign #fff to certain parts, i.e the background, certain accents. i'm not much of a layout coder, just a tweaker, but if you leave one of the accents blank, you should be able to have the top part without a background. for some reason, it doesn't work all the time??

as for putting custom quotes/design into the top, you have to work with display:none so the default things don't show up, i.e. userinfo link, friends link. generally, people who use ~coding layouts do a lot of tweaking. if you need something specific in a layout, you could always right click and "inspect element"? it's a bit finicky if you don't know where to click, but it's helped me in the past!

the first part, i get that and i've had it not work for me either. what i'm more looking for is the "global", "lastn", etc what-goes-where. i'll have to try "inspect element". thanks for that info!

I have something similar on [info]mkrs. If you click this link it will open up an online notepad and give you all of the coding that you can tweak the way you want.

Try that one! It's so weird the first one didn't save. I haven't had it do that to me before!
