Depends on how much tolerance you have? I'd say spoiler, but this is first volume: The hero is in love with his own sister. This is pretty much the healthiest relationship in this story. Incest, cannibalism, religious imagery (basically, Christian symbolism warped around for storytelling purposes, which to some people is sacrilege and others an interesting device), flat-out insane people. It's been a while since I read the whole series, so probably more. I remember being careful about who I'd tell about it when I was in high school, though to be fair, I remember there being fewer shows like Dexter and Hannibal on when I was younger. Maybe my parents just never let me watch them.

I will add it to my list! The animal thing doesn't bother me. I still watch a ton of animated movies, as long as they're not solely geared for really young audiences.
