TUMBLR FUN TIMES
  1. (Chrome users only) Screw Missing E, you should be using xKit (which still WORKS with ~new Tumblr.)
  2. Screw Tumbview to look at image blogs and yank your hair out because of the interface. You need to check out tumview.
  3. Always, ALWAYS reblog long text posts as TEXT not LINKS. (Missing E and xKit used to do this for you before ~new Tumblr.)
  4. If you're making or uploading GIFs, remember a few things: 1) Stay well under the 1MB limit (~400k to ~800k to be safe) or your GIF is not going to work. 2) Posts your GIFset as a DRAFT first to make sure their speed is appropriate. If they're too fast, slow it down a bit, or I will have to kill you. 3) If you're CROPPING to a smaller image size, leave an extra 2px on the width and on the height then use CANVAS size (not IMAGE size) to trim those pixels after you've cropped and resized otherwise you will have a transparent edge that LOOKS LIKE CRAP.
  5. Only your first FOUR tags will actually make the post show up in that tag, so make them count.
  6. If you are putting an image that is already hosted on Tumblr in a post caption/description do this: <img src="http://media.tumblr.com/...jpg" /> NOT this < img src="24.media.tumblr.com/...jpg" /> -- do you see the difference? REMOVE THE #s and dot, and MAGICALLY your embedded image will show up on the dash and NOT be a placeholder.
  7. FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE DO NOT USE AUDIO SEARCH TO POST AUDIO. PLEASE. Use Kiwi6 and post audio as a URL. You can post as many as you want, this way and you save us the pain of Spotify.
  8. Site Meter is the devil. Use FreeHostedScripts.
  9. ex.fm and SCMPlayer are amazing and you should be using one of them on your blog. However, if you use autoplay, I will murder you.
  10. Do NOT use the Theme Garden themes. Please, for the love all that his holy. Especially not effector.
  11. For most blogs, adding /mobile at the END of the URL should show you the blog without styling.
There are more things, but I need to go to lunch. :P

I have no way of substantiating this, but I heard now that Tumblr allows 5mb gifs? IDK *shrugs*

I just tried this GIF starting at over 5MBs and working down a half MB at a time. It didn’t work until I was under 1MB.

The gif limit has been updated but I'm not sure if it's to 5 MBs. If you try and upload them in a text post, not an image post, I don't think they'll work but this one is 1.82 MBs and I uploaded it last night.

Also, XKit works in Firefox as well.

I had no idea about the first four tags thing but that's good to know since I post a lot of graphics.

Firstly - so MUCH the autoplay. Dear god people, STOP THE AUTOPLAY.

Second, when I Google'd XKit, I read it as Xshit. No lies.

I swear to god there used to be a way to make Photoshop automatically knock that shit off, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.
