is there any way to force gmail to not lump all ij comment notifs into one conversation/thread?

for instance, if i make a post from two different accounts and people reply to both, i get one gmail conversation labeled "reply to your post" which contains the notifs from both. the emails registered in both accounts are technically the same, but differentiated (e.g. email+username1@gmail.com and email+username2@gmail.com, which i use to label incoming notifs according to which character they're for. and then ofc my personal account is just registered to email@gmail.com.) gmail lumping all my ij notifs together really screws with my tagging system. like, am i just boned here? am i gonna have to start making separate email addresses?

Yep! Go to 'Settings' and scroll down to 'Conversation View' and make sure that it's turned off. I think that's it.

i actually do want to keep the conversation view, i just want gmail to separate notifs by post the way lj and dw do. if i make two posts from two different accounts (or hell, two posts from one account) on lj or dw, the notifs go to separate conversations. ij throws them all into one conversation.

I actually downloaded thunderbird and while it lumps conversations together it does it by post. So all replies to this post would be in one thread will replies to another post will be in a different thread.

i might try that as a last resort, thanks. i really don't like using email software but maybe i should just suck it up, haha.

It does what you want it to do at the least. I like it cause I can add all of my email accounts to it and access easily (ie roleplay, professional, mod journals etc).

~aikkman is right. Settings -> Conversation View -> Off.

What will happen is each reply will come as a separate email and be individual rather than having all the replies from IJ in one all piggybacked together. I was having the same problem. I don't lose my notifs anymore.

i want to keep conversation view though, that's my issue. i just want gmail to be able to separate ij notifs by post the way it does for lj and dw.

I have the same problem and haven't been able to solve it :-(

right now i've given up out of frustration and have set up this really clumsy workaround where i make separate emails for each journal and set them to forward everything to my main e-mail. i don't play a lot of characters so i guess it works but i imagine that would get unwieldy for people who play a lot :\

I have 37 characters atm so that would be a bit much for me...

Blergh. Sorry it's not working.

My suggestion would set up filters in Gmail for each thread you're doing.
