i know what you mean! at the end of the day, though, you have to go with your gut. if you have samples of their writing you can make comparisons; you can also step up the requirements of your application in certain ways - needing certain methods of contact or requiring very extensive examples, just as a contingency method, and it might make it easier to suss them out or, best case scenario, drive them off as they don't want to fabricate so much for the sake of squirming their way into your game.
