As far as I can tell, it's only possible with a paid account. If you're willing to go that route,

nameless_layout has the instructions here. There may also be a clever CSS hack out there somewhere, but I've only ever managed to make such a thing work with Flexible Squares and it was a nightmare of inconsistency across browsers and screen resolutions.

Personally, I'd suggest simply disabling the calendar if you're set on having links and tags at the top. You can do this by adding the following to the layout CSS:

display:none;
}
