i seem to be doing something wrong every time i try to view source layouts like this. is there anything i'm supposed to avoid and only certain parts to copy and paste from the view source page? credits will go to them of course once i figure it out, but it's just so frustrating!

Viewing source for an entire layout like that is not really good because you miss some of the required code like LASTN_TALK_READLINK and GLOBAL_HEAD, etc.

TBH if you want the layout, I'd ask them for the original code.

When you view source a layout that's on a journal instead of just say a bio on webs or scribbld, that's another story because all the code is there.

HOWEVER, while wandering,

carygrant has a similar layout and offered the code up here.
