An RP comm idea!
ETA: The asylum is [info]illustratedpsls, and it is now open!

I've been thinking about this idea for a few days now, and I'd like to hear feedback.  =D

Do any of you guys have an interest in an RP-ad community, that panders to players and games that are based on animated/rendered fandoms? This concerns fandoms such as animated TV series, animated movies (traditional and CG), video games, anime & manga, general artwork, etc. I do have a general idea of the rules/requirements, the most important one being that all ads must only be for animated/rendered RPs: play-bys are not accepted, and this covers games that allow a mixture of animated and PB.

I've been role-playing for 14 years, I'm an avid gamer, and I enjoy watching 'toons; it's very hard to find other people who enjoy playing in animated sandboxes, with zero play-bys. Myself and a couple friends enjoy our cartoons and games, as they are. However, as the general public is interested in PB-orientated sandboxes, it is often frustrating to find just one other like-minded player.

I have a few years experience of managing communities and games, and I'm online everyday for several hours, so I have time for this. Are there any players out there who'd be interested in buildin' the number of animated players, within a catered community?

It'd be useful. Not everyone likes real people PBs, and it seems like that's all there is on IJ these days.

PBs dominate roleplay groups, and it's a shame. I should have the asylum up in a day or two, depends how my morning goes tomorrow.

/commenting from a character journal, woo!

There are a lot of animated-face roleplayers on LJ, or at least there were when I was RPing Kingdom Hearts a couple years ago. If you do make this comm, it would be smart to advertise there pretty heavily.

You're absolutely right; LJ is animated-face friendly. I used to play over there, (Kingdom Hearts, too =D) but I still advertise on that server, since video games and the rest are- well, pretty much the norm. On IJ, god forbid if someone asks to use a rendered faceclaim.

I will make that a priority, and spread the word on LJ as soon as I finish the asylum, and I'll update my original entry as needed.

Most of animated fandom LJ RP has actually moved to Dreamwidth, though I'm not sure of the ad communities we have on DW now beyond the monthly [personal profile] app_this_plz posts.

I've heard that one or two of the major animated LJ games did move over there; any particular reason why, or did people... just go with the flow?

Hopefully, my asylum will attract RPers on this server; I'm not liking the idea of creating yet another account on a different server.

Most of the panfandom games did (now that I think about it I actually don't know much about the single fandom games, sorry) after the layout for comment pages changed in a way that kills long threads and badly affected accessibility, and one of the head people at LJ basically said in an interview (unfortunately I don't have the links any more) that he didn't really care about what the current userbase wanted as long as he attracted new users with the changes to the site.

Good luck!

That. Is fucking hilarious. That's one way to turn off new and old customers, LJ. I had noticed the new comment style, but never seen any long threads. I'd leave too, if that's the case.

Thank ye! =D
