Just one question for now;

Alright so I started this IJ rping business last month and I got used to and know most of the lingo around here. But there's one thing that really confuses me and I feel terrible for asking random people that are just looking for psl's.

That question being; What exactly is faux-celeb and the credit thing everyone is talking about? Like I see examples of 'I'm looking for this John Smith, who I like to see take a Derek Jeter credit or Three Days Grace credit.'

What exactly is that suppose to mean?

I'm sure someone else will be able so explain this better--but the way it was explained to me is: they want you to play 'John Smith' but not with his list of accomplishments. Instead, they want you to recreate the character with accomplishments from other people. Like Derek Jeter or Three Days Grace. Etc. It's a 'pick and choose' thing. You then make your IMDB page for your faux-celeb so people know what they've been up to. It's pretty involved. And confusing. So good luck!

This is, of course, how I was explained like...four years ago. It's possible that things have changed.

Oh okay, this looks simple enough then! I feel so silly that I didn't catch on to this at all, so thank you so much on clearing this up for me. Okies then!

I still think this is the same way most people do it now but if there are any changes, I'm sure I'll have someone inform me out on that too. Thanks so much, you have no IDEA how much you helped me!

To add onto what [info]squidtastic said, you tend to NOT use one person for your credits, unless it's an athlete, musician, etc. Like for example:

Face/PB: Nina Dobrev
Credits: Spencer Hastings - PLL
Lexi - Vampire Diaries
Ruby 2 - Supernatural

I hope that makes sense. Granted it should be age appropriate but people in faux tend to get cranky if you have one face as an actress using another's full credits. I don't know why but I've seen them bitch. It's also usually allowed that you could do say Backstreet Boys group - AJ, with Justin Timberlake solo work (don't have to and the Justin/N SYNC writer can use his solo too) but it's allowed

HOPE THIS HELPS!
