Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
When posting an entry, How do you make it to where you and only one other person can see it and not everyone?

That's usually called a custom. To make one, first go here: http://www.insanejournal.com/friends/editgroups.bml

Press the New button underneath the scroll bars, name the custom group appropriately, and then move the journal of the person who you want to be able to see the post from the Not in group: box to the In group: box. You do this by clicking on the name, then pressing the >> buttons. Once that is done, press Save changes.

Then, when you make your post, choose the option of Show this entry to: Custom.... Click the option of the custom group you just made, and post!

Oooo, so that's what a custom is. I have been seeing people use the term "custom" in journals and wondering what that meant. Now I know! =D

You make a custom group so on the sidebar there's a heading of friends and you click on edit custom groups and then there will be a few pre-made ones and then at the bottom it will say new, you can click on that, name the custom (it usually helps to name the custom the person's name or journal name so later you're not confused), and then pick who is on the group by selecting their journal from the not in group section and clicking the >> button to put it in the in group row and then once you're satisfied with that hit save changes. Then when you go to post an entry it will have "show this entry to:" at the bottom, go to custom... and then all of your customs pop up at the bottom, you check the one you want and then voila, you're all set. Sorry if any of this is confusing/not clear.
