I have a question that could change the way my PB suggestions list for comic characters (over at eggplants) work. I don't know if it will be a better change or not so I'm hoping that if you see this you could help weigh in and offer ideas if you have any.
The way I had been operating till now was solely based on my opinions regarding what PBs would work and which ones I'd veto straight away (example here). I find a list consisting of usually 3-12 and post picture of all of them in clothing similar to the characters, as well as a picture of the actor/actress that was cast as that character in a past movie or TV series. Some of them are quite obscure since I tend to slide away from A-listers unless they really are made for the part.
It's a really objective way of working but it's faster than waiting for watchers to response since I don't have many watchers. However, when someone does give a suggestion, I don't know whether or not I should immediately add them to the list. I have my reservations because some I think suggestions I feel don't match the PBs that I have on the list of a particular character but I don't want to leave him/her out of the list just because I personally don't think that he/she doesn't work. Now, my list isn't necessarily the right list since they are just suggestions but I don't want them to be overcrowded--I usually cap the number to around 9-12, or inconsistent. I am not very good at finding the balance between self/everyone else.
I'm in the process of revamping and adding some Marvel characters to the list (I've been neglecting the site because this has been a pain). By using polls, the fan favorites are clear and I will only host the picture of the fan favorites and 'official' movie/TV series casts. This saves me some bandwidth too. However a big problem about this is that I don't have a huge watch list so it might flop. And of course, unless I am mistaken, I cannot add new options to the polls either so it will still be an objective list.
