Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Hey guys, so I know I just posted but I have a DIRE EMERGENCY I must ask about. While this might not seem like a big deal to anyone else, it basically makes my OCD haywire enough that I'm bothered by it. XD

This is also not particularly related to roleplay, but I wasn't sure where else to ask so if it's against the rules, please feel free to delete. If you also have a better idea of where I could get some help, I'd also appreciate the suggestion.

Basically, my problem is that I have a username that has friended and joined a comm, yet for some reason, I cannot see the icons of entries posted (regardless if they're mine or someone else's) in the comm on my friend's page even though I can see the icons when I view the comm directly (like so.) It's not my layout and I have a default icon that should just show up if I don't have one specifically selected, so I can't figure out what the problem is. Is there any way someone could help me fix this?

I think it might just be that that user (bullandwolf) doesn't have userpics/a default pic and is posting without one. Have any other users from that community posted so that you can see if their icons show up for you?

1. Does ~bullandwolf have a default icon?
2. Do the communities have default icons?
3. Are the communities setup so that only community default icons are used?

These are the non-coding issues I can think of. Otherwise, it's something weird in the code and I'd have to see it to figure it out.

Yeah, I'm going to need to seed the code because the only thing I can glean from the generated source code is that .shadowed img needs to be fixed because display: show; is incorrect CSS syntax. Namely, it doesn't exist. It should be display: none; or something like display: inline;. But it's been so long since I've done overrides that I don't remember what exactly .shadowed img affects.

Oh, I got myself turned around. I thought ~blacksmith was the community. Ha! This is what I get for not having coffee.

Okay, the problem most likely is that a) ~bullandwolf doesn't have a default icon and b) ~blacksmith set so that only community icons are used. You can change the latter by going to http://www.insanejournal.com/customize/options.bml and unchecking the box.

You still need to fix the above in the stylesheet of your overrides, though. No telling what that's actually doing to your code.

Actually, I took a look at your second suggestion and got it to work; if you still want to see my coding, let me know and I'll post it for you. I didn't even realize I had that checked until you had said something, so thank you so, so, so, so much for helping me. You are becoming my life saver. XD
