Definitely agree with the above two commenters. To add my own advice, for recruiting/promoting I usually look for something that looks well put together with a premise that isn't too hard to understand but still draws me in. Sort of like the back cover of a book or a good movie trailer. Since people don't already know the characters the plot and the setting really have to sell it. Also, the clearer and more complete your explanations of the plot and setting are, the more likely it is that people will create characters that will fit in.
