Why Tags Are AMAZING
TOP 5 Reasons why getting your game to tag ALL IC entries is a GOOD IDEA

5. It's easier to find your favourite threads by your character for when you want to update your CDJ.

4. It's easier for a new player to find updates by the old player and figure out what backstory they have coming into a game.

3. It's the quickest way to check activity when you can just click the person's tag.

2. You can set notifications to let you know when someone adds your character tags to the community. This way you know the moment that thread you've been planning goes up, or when your character is emailed.

1. When Insanejournal fuxors notifications and you miss that tag on that three-week-old thread, it won't be near impossible to find it. You can just click your character's tag and sort through so many less entries!

Now if only there was an easy button to get players to tag their own stuff more than fifty percent of the time ;P

I know. :( Luckily right now all but 1 of my players in my new game are doing it consistently.

I'm jealous. Mine do not too bad but we do have to add more than few in most threads. I always try to tag in others who haven't whenever I put my character in.

One of my players just came up with an awesome idea. You have to trust that nobody is dramatastic enough to go nuts and delete all tags, but I've gone into tag settings and allowed all registered users to add/remove tags. Now we're going to tag open threads with OTA so it's easy to find an open thread to jump on. Players simply remove the OTA and add their own character tag when they jump on in!

Yeah we're set up to let people add/remove tags, I can't even imagine the mess it would be had that not been done from the start. It's just some days getting everyone to remember to add their character tag to a post is kind of a struggle lol. Especially in the network posts, we have an IC network community, since it moves so fast and I think on average we have more ADD people in this game than any other.

I shudder to think about life before tags. I remember being on message boards briefly when I was on GJ/IJ as well and I hated never being able to find anything.

Also! Very useful for fandom games, if a potential player is considering picking up a character with strong ties to another, makes it very easy to see how active that other character would be. One click and they can see if they're played the bare minimum or of the player is really active and the potential applicant can have that info when they decide on or against that character.

That's a great point. Here's hoping that other player is active so they don't scare people away!
