Requests?
With the positive feedback on my other layouts, I thought I'd get some requests from you guys. Do you need/want to see more user info layouts, character profile layouts, icons, or journal layouts? Is there something in particular you've been looking for and haven't been able to find? A certain color scheme? Something more masculine? Something specific (like a military inspired layout or a specific actor/actress)?

I'm most familiar with S1 Generator and S2 Bloggish layouts for journals, but I'm willing to try anything at least once. So whatever you'd like to see, throw it at me, and I'll see what I can do for you!

Character profile layouts! I've been looking for a minimal one that's in grey tones, but with the occasional place to put a picture of the PB. Does that make sense at all? XD

It does, but I want to clarify a few things before I start coding:

Do you prefer something to be used in a journal entry, on a webpage or scribbld style, or in your user info? Are you thinking multiple pictures or just one? Do you prefer serif fonts (like Times New Roman & Georgia) or non-serif fonts (like Tahoma, Arial, and Helvetica)? Is it for original pb, a specific fandom, or celeb? And lastly, do you want something with a bunch of blocks (say like this) or one long continuous table (like this)?

-journal entry!
-Either's fine, but I like multiple pictures. Just not overdone like a lot of character profiles tend to get!
-serif fonts!
-original pb!
-blocks!

Would all of that be too hard? I'm SUPER flexible when it comes to stuff like this, so really anything wound make me happy. XD Thank you!!!

Nope! I can definitely handle this! Don't know if I'll get to it tonight, but it should be done by tomorrow.

I would like a layout that reminds me of comic book covers. I've been playing around myself, but so far, no luck.

Could you give me a clearer idea of what you mean? Does it have to do with fonts and colors and layouts or the actual positioning of things on the page? Do you have any particular comic books in mind?

Well sans-serif fonts help. I think with positioning. I tried once but my override skills need a lot of work. Some things I wanted to do with it:

1. Make the entries generally taller than they are wide. I wanted content boxes to have margins between top and bottom and be only about 600 pixels wide.

2. I wanted to mimic the entry number code I made here, but instead of entry number have it be the number of tags and have the MARVEL be the button you click to comment. Of course you could make it say other things than "Marvel", but I'm a mega nerd.

3. I was going to put the date in a bordered box at the top left hand corner with the format
1
MAR
But for some reason when I was modifying generator it just wouldn't work out left aligned.

4. I wanted large Subject font. Probably in something Fantasy Family, like Impact.

Also it would be nice to be able to set a background image and a header, but I'm not stuck on that.

okay. I'll see what I can come up with. This will definitely take me a while, though.

I know, right? I was ecstatic when I saw this because I JUST looked at her layouts & fell in love with them. LIGHT HAS SHONE DOWN ON [info]rp_tutorials!!! LOL.

I just wanted to share, and let you know I've made some progress. As soon as I defeat this annoying quirk (icons keep disappearing in some journals. It's very o.O, and I can't figure out what's going on), I'll generalize all the coding so it's easy to customize, make a version with a header image, and post the code.

Unfortunately, you can't guarantee the entries will always be longer than they are wide. I tried defining a minimum height, but it did this weird thing where it shifted everything in the entry box to the middle, instead of aligning it top, and it looked odd. Still, I hope I'm on the right track.

Awesome! Can we center the date text in the box? Otherwise I think it's super cool!

Sure! I had it centered originally, but my friend who is more of a comic nerd than I am wanted it left aligned. Back to center it goes. :D

Sounds good! I'm almost done with the coding now. I just have to fix up the code with the image header and put together the post. I'll get you a link when I'm done.

I personally would love to see more masculine journal layouts, as well as ones with red color schemes that aren't pink red. They are surprisingly hard to find.

Doesn't matter much to me; Dark green would probably be best for a layout or possibly lime green if used right.

My current layout is sorta green and teal looking.

I've had a problem with masculine layouts myself, which is why I mentioned it. It's good to know I'm not the only one. I'll try to come up with at least a couple of options - maybe something S1 Generator and something S2 Bloggish - within the next month or so.

Red is sort of a difficult color to design with, because it either ends up looking pink or HOMGZ BRIGHT CAUTION RED LIGHT RED, which can be overwhelming in large amounts. I've been thinking about doing a four seasons layout set and the fall one could definitely incorporate some red elements.

I'll do my best to keep your suggestions in mind when I'm working on layouts in the future.

Yeah it seems to be a common problem. I know when I look for layouts for my male characters I have trouble finding some.

As for the red, if you go for deep wine or brown reds, you can avoid both common issues. Fall toes are a really good idea. Cool greys and black to offset the reds could work too.

Thank you for offering your services by the way! It's very generous of you.

I would love to see more journal layouts. I like anything that is customizable or different from most layouts. :)
