Re: quicklog: neil/mere
[Her hands were full with dinner when he approached with the flowers, and she couldn't help but smile a bit more warmly at the sight. Flowers weren't an everyday occurrence from Neil Donovan, and she truly did appreciate the gesture.] They're beautiful. Moreso since they're coming from you. [She leaned forward to give him a small kiss to his cheek before she moved to deposit the dishes on the table. But she didn't sit quite yet, hands lingering on the back of the chair as she turned to watch him fetch a vase of water to put the flowers in. It really was good to see him even with everything else that was going on around them.
This place wasn't good for them, not the them that had existed outside of the hotel, at least, where the world was mostly sane and predictable. Maybe it was because they really hadn't had any large hurdles to cross, any disasters thrown in their path that made things more difficult. Really, all that Meredith wanted was to be involved, to be part of whatever was going on here. She knew his life before, his business (as much as she needed to know, at least), and she had been involved. But here, things were completely different and it left her drifting uncomfortably, unsure if she still belonged.
She did love him, there was no question in that, and she was quite positive that he still loved her. But navigating these new waters was proving to be more difficult than she had ever imagined.] There should be a vase above the sink, I believe, if you're having trouble finding one. [Still, she didn't sit, fingers resting against the back of the chair, nails bit down to the quick.]
