Re: Ocean's: Ash & Sam
"Is there an age limit for kids on bikes?" Sam had no fucking idea, yeah? She was too young to think about kids, and she knew her own vices too well to plan on ever fucking a kid up with all her baggage. But she liked the ones that belonged to other people, yeah? And like TJ, she wasn't going to hold Matthew's dad against him. It wasn't the kid's fault or whatever.
She ordered fries from the waitress, and a fresh soda, which she drank nearly as fast as the one before. "Yeah, adventure can be fucking overrated, especially around here." Which Ash knew. Shit, anyone who'd been here more than five minutes knew that shit. But it was quiet now, today, and she was taking that shit one day at a time. No point thinking it would stay like this, because shit never did.
"I'm across town," she said truthfully. The shelter was good, and Neil had gotten her in without her needing to get in touch with him again or anything. And she figured it wasn't the same as asking for shit, yeah? Because it hadn't cost him. "You like where you're at? You said a pub, yeah?"
The fries came, and Sam slathered them with ketchup and hissed when the acid red touched her cracked lip. But the fries tasted fucking awesome, and a little sting wasn't going to stop her from eating them.
