Re: log: Tony's Super Secret Facility
Other than his work on dressing the wound in front of him, the next thing Bruce noticed was the not-quite-joke from the man in front of him. He was used to the sort of morbid comments that came out as something that might almost be funny, depending on the delivery, and he let out a quick exhale in a huff of what might be laughter if it was dialed up a few dozen notches. His own reply came automatically and without much other reaction: "We each of us have our flaws." Though it wasn't entirely clear if he meant Bucky's attempt at killing, or Steve's ignoring of it. And he didn't give any further explanation.
The next thing that cut through his focus were the heavy metallic footfalls of Tony moving closer. It earned a glance back over his own shoulder and a slightly raised eyebrow, having missed a bit of conversation and wondering if he should have been listening a little more closely. He wondered if it would explain the sudden addition of back and forth voices coming from the suit - voices that were neither Tony nor JARVIS. It took a moment (and Tony's question) for him to realize that it was a broadcast of a baseball game, and his other eyebrow inched up to meet the first. He'd never known Tony to be a huge sports fan, at least not the type that would need to catch up on the end of a game.
It was Tony's casual posture (strange-looking in the suit) that finally really caught Bruce's attention and clued him in on the fact that there was something else going on in Tony's mind. He started paying more attention, even though there were a few final details of dressing Barnes' leg. But it was enough to keep his face turned down and (hopefully) inoffensively away when he spoke. "I guarantee there's parts of that you can't reach yourself." Like the back of his shoulder, where he'd seen some rather alarming stress to the muscles on the scan Tony had put up. "Knowing how is good. An extra pair of hands can be helpful though." He didn't offer, didn't volunteer Tony. But there were few reasons that someone would say such a thing and not at least be hinting at an offer of help. Between the (fairly) quick work he'd made of the leg wound, and the fact that Barnes had to know the level of mechanical capability that Tony had, he figured the man was smart enough to get there on his own. Hopefully. If HYDRA hadn't pulled the concept of accepting aid right out of his world-view.
But instead of replying at first, Barnes went still, and it pulled Bruce's attention up until he was looking at the man's face. It was somehow distant, and he risked a quiet Soldier?, but there was no reaction until Barnes' attention sharpened again, no sign that he'd heard Bruce at all. He didn't repeat himself, even as he became aware that he was maybe sitting too close once he'd finished wrapping and cleaning everything.
The question should have been expected - he'd asked much the same at one point in time, and not believing when he was told he could leave as soon as they'd finished locating a wayward god and an interdimensional power cube. And he had yet to be hauled away in whatever sort of chains might try to contain him. But he wasn't there to determine if Barnes would be let go again, so he turned his head and raised an eyebrow at Tony, somewhat interested in the answer himself.
