Re: log: Tony's Super Secret Facility
"That's..." Admittedly, the color-changing crystal distracted him for a minute. Stepping forward, eyebrows raising, shoulders squaring, it almost looked like he wanted to reach out to feel the faceplate, to search for that spot that Tony had tapped to instigate the change in appearance. He didn't, remembering at the last moment that they were there for a different reason (and maybe it did take Tony's promise of later to remind him).
It was easy enough to follow, and even easier to find his way once they were inside. The architecture didn't leave much question as to where they were going. No, the question was saved for after Tony opened the door to the barracks to reveal an obviously injured man who, beneath the body armor and blood, did bear a undeniable similarity to the old pictures Bruce had seen of one Sargent James Barnes. The bent bedframe didn't escape his notice, and neither did the shocky expression on the man's face (younger than it had any right to be, and he was reminded of meeting Steve for the first time on the helicarrier, shocked at how the legend could be so young under all the weight he carried - it was much the same looking at Barnes, especially after reading some of the files he'd been able to access). The metal of his left hand moved smoothly, with almost delicate precision even in its gory task, and Bruce stared at it for a second before reining in his thoughts again as it instead reached for a weapon that wasn't there. Bruce didn't tense, knowing that even if he were shot, he'd be safe. Though the same might not be said for the other men in the room if that were to happen. Thankfully, they didn't have to find out, and he simply nodded at the cold greeting.
He was hardly unused to cold greetings. Though if he'd known Barnes' thoughts about doctors (in general), he probably would have laughed. The clothes he was wearing were the ones he found in his closet at Stark Tower - the ones he was pretty sure Pepper had a hand in buying. Which meant they were nicer than he had grown used to. Even so, he was just beginning to realize that he may have grabbed two different styles of shoes during his rush to exit the building.
"Soldier." It was warmer than Barnes' rough words, and neutral, using the name he'd been given during their previous conversation. He paused, ignoring Tony for the moment because he wasn't the reason Bruce had just been air-lifted off of a skyscraper, and trying to find words that he hoped would make things go as smoothly as possible. He didn't move at all at first, not even the slightest motion toward the occupied bed, and did his best to take his cues from Barnes. Including names. "Stark told me you're injured. If you'll allow it, I should be able to help."
