Re: Marvel hospital: Gwen & Peter
"Disagreeing with me repeatedly does not put you in the right, flabby." As terrible as things were, having fun was something she was kind of craving. She couldn't let herself drown in the bad stuff. She knew some people operated under those conditions with little difficulty, and maybe it meant she was weak, but she just couldn't do it. She'd tried plenty of times, but she wanted sunshine and laughter, and she wasn't sure if that was really healthy or really unhealthy. And maybe it was stupid, being willing to still spend time with him. It would be safer to cut off all contact, and to avoid being hurt again as a result, but that wasn't very her. When it came right down to it, they had a long a history - okay, so maybe two years in high school wasn't super long, but they'd been through a lot. She should let go of that, but it was easier said than done. Just like cutting him off entirely was easier said than done.
She gave him a grateful nod when he agreed not to let his guard down around Harry, and she was glad he didn't brush off her concerns as paranoia. But then he'd be the last person who would underestimate Harry Osborn's potential for destructiveness.
"You can't blame me without solid corroboration for assigning blame," she insisted. She figured he got it. She figured he understood that this was her giving him permission to go be with the redhead if he wanted to. Okay, maybe she couldn't think about that very long without getting upset. So not thinking about it now, nope. But the thought was there, and she had trouble shaking it off once it was there. She nodded when he asked about meeting at the museum. "Yeah." She stood. "I should go check-in with the nurses," she said, because she knew he had to get back. She motioned to the double doors, and she took one step in their direction.
Then she stopped, and she looked back at him. There was vulnerability in the cornflower blue of her eyes. "You won't stop talking to me, will you, bug boy?" She knew, thanks to Jason, how Mary Jane could be about that kind of thing. Jason hadn't cared; Peter would.
