Re: Marvel hospital: Gwen & Peter
"You're being stubborn about being stubborn!" she insisted. He was always stubborn about being stubborn. And then she was stubborn about him being stubborn about being stubborn. It was a familiar thing, and like most warm memories, it was reassuring when things were totally awful. His mock outrage about athletics made her poke him in the stomach without thinking. "Nope. Just as I thought. Flabby." Which he wasn't and her little ghost of a smile said she knew he was in better shape than nearly anyone, but it felt good to tease, and it felt good to laugh; she wasn't made for dwelling, and she did that way too much lately. "There's no statistical information about closets being the first place people look. You're quoting faulty data," she accused, as if it was a crime beyond comprehension.
She was glad he didn't ask about Carnage, and she nodded about the better hospital being a good idea. Anything that got Flash recuperating quicker was a good idea. But she didn't know about permanence, not with one hundred percent certainty. "Nothing seems to be permanent here," she finally replied, because it was true. Hotel parties and magical effects, they all faded eventually. Unfortunately, she didn't think they'd get much in the way of warning before Harry went from boat parties to gliders.
The crying was good. Maybe that seemed weird, but sometimes crying was the only thing to do. She'd never been the kind of smart girl that refused to sob. She cried a lot over the years, and she wasn't ashamed of it. She knew he didn't like it, but he'd seen her cry enough in high school that she figured he wouldn't need much of a refresher.
His voice was way soothing, and she was smiling a little bit through the dampness of tears and sniffles by the time she pulled back. Without thinking, she nuzzled against the fingers that touched her cheek. "You're pretty sweet," she countered with a too-fond smile and pink cheeks that she didn't need science to explain away, even if it was totally stupid.
