Re: Marvel hospital: Gwen & Peter
Gwen was positive that Flash wouldn't hold not going against Peter. She figured he knew that, but it never hurt to say it, right? Especially when he was probably blaming himself for every possible intersection of bad and worse that had occurred in the past few days. "Flash has this thing about you and Mary Jane being not messed up, unlike us, and he didn't want either of you there, Peter," she said, just in case. She didn't add that taking Mary Jane would've been a disaster, because there wasn't any point in it now, but the redhead was possibly less able to handle traumatizing situations than any of them. "He's staying away from Mary Jane himself for that same reason," she added, and maybe she didn't need to, but she had so many things she hadn't talked to anyone about. She should really contact Hels; Hels just listened, and there wasn't anything personal about talking with her about things. But Hels was going to be so pissed, and facing that was a little daunting.
She watched the scuff of his toe against the floor, as glad for the distraction of the steady squeak as he was. She looked up when he said she wasn't frigid. "It seems that way because it's been that way 100% of the time, Peter, and okay, I'm not frigid, but I don't make aggressive first moves either." Which was just plain fact, and she knew from Jason and Harry that Mary Jane did make the first move; she didn't think it was different now. "It's not a bad thing about her. It's just not me, and pretending to be her never got me anywhere good." But his wave of hand when he referred to the tights made her laugh a little. "Creative, bug boy. This from the boy that mocked my choice of uncreative hiding places once."
"Hey." She turned her body a little more toward his, knee bumping against the outside of his. "No. If you do decide to go 'run off' to Mary Jane, it's not a bad thing. I don't want you to think that's what this is about. It's not, okay? It's about my own stupid issues, not about who you fall in love with," she said and, despite the dampness at the corner of her eyes, she sounded genuine, and she gave him a tiny smile after. "I kind of don't want to die again either," she admitted. She plucked at the denim at the knee of his jeans, not really thinking; old habits. "I actually think maybe it'll happen regardless," she admitted. She hadn't said that aloud before, and she totally hated how it sounded.
But he squeezed her hand, and she rolled her eyes at his question about being beautiful. "She goes on to be a famous supermodel and actress, Peter. She's kind of the girl that it's impossible to physically compete with," she said. That was just visual truth; Mary Jane was gorgeous, and that was fact.
She sat back, and she sighed, and she looked over at the double doors leading to where Flash was. "Do you know what I want? It's way selfish," she admitted, looking back at him.
