Re: Louis' apartment: Iris, Sam, Cris
[Upstairs, if it could be called that, given the claustrophobic geometry of the space, Cris did not think Bart Simpson was artistic. He didn't like The Simpsons. But, Sam wasn't wrong that he humored her interest—not to be condescending or anything. He just didn't have the talent that she did, the eye, whatever it was called in English. His mamá had been wistful about that fact, lamenting it when she gave him paper to draw on and he used it in his ratty sneakers as a new, bright white tongue—to replace the one that had long since gone Bronx brown. He didn't get the highbrow thing, but, Sam was good at what she did and he could respect that. And it made her happy, which made it important to him.
She laughed, and he smiled, almost smug, as she put her weight against his.] Art, yeah. I call it a lawsuit waitin' to happen. [It was a good think Lou didn't have kids or pets. Someone would crawl under that floating bed and get crushed, he could just see it now.—Plus, how were you supposed to do anything on it without worrying it was going to peel from the panel behind it. Unless it was all one piece of wood—which it wasn't, he saw the seal in shadow—any seam could split. Not that he actually cared all that much. It was just... extraño.
Sam grinned at him, at the box of chicken, and went up on her tiptoes. The kiss was quick, too quick, by Cris' count, but he took it. And when she split, fast, thieving his rice, he shot a hand out to smack her ass.
He listened, staying where he was, as Sam spoke to the kid. He sat on that bed, careful, and waited a second or two. Then he followed, down the stairs, and into the lights of that kitchen. He grabbed another takeout box and leaned against the sharp counter.] I bring the food. This is the thanks I get, huh? [It was good-humored. He snapped his chopsticks apart, rubbing the edges together to shed splinters on the clean floor. He tried to stay back, a little more near the living area, so as not to interject himself between the sisters and the kid. And he just kinda watched.]
