Re: quicklog: Jean G/Wanda M - Wanda's garden
[Finally, someone that understood. There was a look of gratitude in Jean's eyes as she glanced up at Wanda's touch. Sure, most people could gather that the Phoenix and Jean were separate beings, but it was never that simple. Especially when the Phoenix went too far. The Professor, Scott, Logan, Ororo... they never got it, and there was no way Jean could possibly explain. Everyone thought of the Phoenix as evil. It wasn't. It was just different. And if Jean could just control it, the Phoenix could do so much good in the world.]
I'm not concerned with what caused it. [Jean would be if she knew what it was, but the dreams never let her see.] I know things are different here, but I can't let myself hurt anyone. If the Phoenix takes over... [Jean trailed off once more, chewing on her lower lip. How do you ask someone to murder you? Tactfully, she figured.] The Phoenix is terrified of you. It's hard for me to even be this close. It's still weak, but the fight or flight responses are stronger than anything. Instinct and all.
[A pause as she tried to gather the words. The buzz of life from the garden was almost intoxicating, and she gripped Wanda's hand firmly, solidifying the sort of bond that people made when they touched. One psychology class was enough to know that even the slightest physical connection helped to put people at ease.] I normally have the X-Men to depend on. They aren't here. I'm alone and I don't know how strong I am without them. [Jean's love kept the Phoenix in check more often than not.] The day may never come. I hope it doesn't. If it does, and if I start to hurt innocent people... I need to know you'll stop me.
