Re: Mayflowers: Max & Sharon
Max almost asked about the handler, about Tiger, about Stark and his car. She almost commented on paper trails.
She didn't say anything. She wasn't used to this position, to children and not being able to do what she thought needed to be done. Being on the outside, it hadn't bothered her until this moment. Maybe it had all been there, ignored, but she was having a hard time at the moment. She was standing in a flower shop, a child on her hip and the world potentially falling to shreds. Her contacts were nil, and her usefulness was even less.
No, she didn't feel very good about anything, and she didn't ask. She nodded when Carter said not to be alarmed, and she followed the blonde to the door and locked it behind her.
She turned off the lights, and she put a fake smile on her face as she carried Delia upstairs and set to pretending she cared about homework and bedtimes.
