Silent Hill: Meredith & Flash
Who: Meredith & Flash
What: A rescue mission
Where: Silent Hill
When: Recently
Warnings/Rating: It's Silent Hill. Proceed with caution.
She had never been someone who had been predisposed to nightmares or night terrors, or even bad dreams. Meredith, as a general rule, slept soundly and sweetly with dreams that were only slightly different than the life she lead from day to day. But this place felt like a nightmare, too real to be something she could pinch her way out of, and unending in a way that made her wonder how long she'd be stuck here.
But people were coming. Someone was coming. Maybe. Right? It was hard to think on the possibilities when there were noises coming from right outside the door of the apartment she had barricaded herself in. The apartment wasn't much, either. Dirty, dingy, stains on the wall that she couldn't identify, the entire place in a severe state of disrepair and neglect. It was the stuff out of nightmares, of haunted houses and movie sets, and she hadn't been able to breathe easy since she closed the door behind her.
But that guy - Flash? - had told her to move. To not stay in one place too long. And it seemed a reasonable thing to do, to keep moving even if fear nearly had her feet rooted to the floor where she sat. Somehow she got herself up, sweater pulled tight around her middle. The chair she had shoved in front of the door was pushed away, the door cracked open. Shadows danced in the darkness beyond, but she swallowed down her fear and ran.
She went up the stairs, up to the second floor, and turning down one hallway, something moved in the shadows, skittering and groaning. She only caught a flash of it, writhing flesh, before she turned, white as a sheet, to find a place to hide. Every door she tried was locked, it seemed, but just like before, one finally gave way, slammed shut behind her. A sliver of light cut through the window, barely enough to illuminate the room. But it was enough, enough that she could see her way to sit, fingers brushing against something cold and metallic on the floor beside her.
A gun.
Meredith nearly sobbed at the feel of it as she took it into her hands, both wrapped around it, and with her back pressed into a corner, she sat and she waited.]
