Re: Penthouse: Iris / Sam
[She was fading fast, but she noticed the relief, yeah? And she wondered who Iris was worried that Lou was with or whatever. It was a jumbled kind of thought, because why should Iris be with anyone bad? And as soon as she thought that shit, she shied away from it, like it was a hot fucking stove that would burn her fingers if she thought about it too long.
But, yeah, she was swaying, and she had no idea Iris was disagreeing with the nurse or whatever. She didn't even notice the shooing away. She just gratefully got beneath the blankets, and she curled onto the pillow, hair a tangle of faded black against the snowy pillowcases, the bruise on her jaw in sharp relief against all that pale.
Eyes closed, but Iris was talking, yeah? And she forced herself onto her back, so she could look at her sister from beneath heavy eyelids. She nodded.] Yeah. Yeah. Ok. Thanks for coming, I. I'm sorry about Joey. [Like she needed to apologize for it, but she was already falling asleep, which meant she didn't need to think about that statement at all, thankfully.]
