Re: [quicklog: micah c, neil d, cris m, louis d]
[Neil didn't expect this to go easily. And maybe he just had a different mindset, not that of a cop but of a man who was at the end of his rope, whose brother had broken out of a magician's basement and was capable of horrible, terrible things, who'd watched Micah do so much damage without having to face so much as a slap on the wrist; it wasn't smart, but he didn't realize that. And he didn't care about being shot at, really. He probably wouldn't have been able to pretend the doppelganger was Sam even if he'd wanted to. Louis, he didn't think Louis was inclined to pretend either. If he wanted to burn Micah alive or drown him, well, Neil wasn't sure he even cared enough to try to stop him. Not this time.
He saw Micah reach for the gun. He knew. Even as he moved, Neil pulled his own gun from within his jacket, prepared to shoot; he just didn't care. If somebody wanted to try to arrest him they were welcome to, but only once Micah was dead.
The bullet came close, he could hear it even as he turned, but it didn't hit its mark. And the only reason why he didn't fire back was Cris, because he didn't want to hit Cris. Instead Neil moved forward, gun in hand (the safety clicked back on), observing but not wanting to interfere. He didn't think Micah would be able to put up much of a fight anyway.]
