[Clem ain't ever used a thing comes packaged homemade. Some rich folks like that kind of thing, but her momma always did like labels best. New rich, and Chanel No. 5 said things folkmade didn't. So, Clem was real unsure what to do with the things that came, though they smelled pretty, and she wondered if Shane's woman made him bathing things that smelled like this. That was funny as could be, thinking on Shane smelling like lavender. But then that got her to thinking about that skinny old house in Marvel, and how this woman was over there, and Clem didn't have a real long jealous streak, but this was a sore subject some, and she was getting herself worked up imagining every damn person (and infant) in that house smelling of lavender.
But she had manners some, brought up on them like she was, and she set the things in the bathroom. Jake, she figured, might like that kind of thing. Wouldn't surprise her if the boy liked lavender, not one bit.
To that skinny house in Marvel, she sent a note on stationary trimmed with real gold dust, and her script was pretty as could be.]
Evie,
Thanks for the gifts honey. They smell pretty, and the purple pen for writing's real fine.
