Re: Upper West Side: West 81st.
[Pepper can see movement, not clearly but enough to notice when it pauses, and she can almost make out Selina's face in the dark, so many girls clustered nearby she doesn't want to think about what the Marauders are planning on doing with them.
Would she hold it against him? Pepper considers it, even if the answer is lost as Selina begins to move, and even in the dark she can see the rolling walk is something more sinuous and slink than she could manage, even in heels. Would she? No, presses down hard against anything else. She'd rather he came back. Crowing like it was a video game, she'd rather he didn't realize what it would mean to lose. He's been lucky so far. Won the battles, fought whatever has come his way. If he didn't come for her it's because someone else is being saved, a moment of whipcrack humor and adrenaline and laughter.
She hangs back. Out of the way; she doesn't under-estimate her ability to get in the way, and she can't see a thing but somehow, Selina can. And she picks her way after, bare feet quiet, even if they've begun to smart.]
