[Out of the cowl, the Bat had made strides in expressing emotion. But Bruce Wayne was a man, he had family and, amazingly, even some friends; Batman was something else entirely. He was a symbol. He was infallible. Emotion, expression, those things didn't transfer over. For now, he retained his usual stoicism. He knew it was often off-putting, intimidating, especially when Stephanie was used to a Bat that was less trustworthy and decidedly different, but he couldn't help it. Time would prove that he was the man she remembered, not the one who'd lived in her Gotham.
