Re: Jurassic Park: Gwen & Peter
Yep. No. Completely with him on the savoring the moment thing. She was willing to wait way later than him to savor anything. Once they were out? Good idea! Great idea. Maybe that was adrenaline and the currently tachycardia beat of her heart (completely normal in stressful situations!), but the height lent a certain amount of calm. Now it was the distance between them and the ground that became the first priority. But her grip on the trunk was good, and the branch was thick.
Below, the raptors were still going at the tree, but it was with less determination and, she thought as she counted moments between impact, more sporadically.
When he pulled himself onto the branch beside her, she looked over and gave him a shaky smile. When he put his arm around her shoulder, she leaned against him. Okay, so that was completely against the plan, but this wasn't about making moves. He was more solid than the tree in this weirdly illogical way, and she let her head rest on his shoulder. They were soaked through, and she sniffled as she tried to look down beyond all the thick greenery.
"We'll go back the way we came," she said, a nod against his collarbone. "We just hang out here for a little while first." The second sentence sounded calmer than the first. "Next time, we stay South." She said that with a hint of teasing smile. See? Okay. It was all good.
Her fingers gripped his shirt at the small of his back. Now, they just needed to wait it out.
