Re: Jurassic Park: Gwen & Peter
As grateful as he was that they were both alive, that she was alive, Peter felt like there'd be time to savor the moment once they were higher and definitely out of reach. Where they were now, it was too risky. The raptors were more likely to give up if there was less of a chance of snapping off somebody's leg or arm. So right, yeah, Gwen was alive and okay but there were still carnivores slamming into the trunk below, wanting a meal; they weren't safe yet.
He let her go first, obviously. Webs or no webs he was okay with heights, they didn't bother him, but he knew it was different for her. Which was why he was about to tell her not to look down, make some joke about the crappy view, but oops, too late. If it'd been up to him he probably would've kept climbing just in case but if Gwen wanted to stop there, hey, that was fine. The branch was thick enough, and there was enough distance between them and the raptors that Peter felt like he could actually relax... a little.
"Sounds good to me!" False cheery, and he managed to pull himself up onto the branch beside her. He wasn't blind, he could see how she was clinging to the trunk. Slow, slow, so he didn't spook her, he slid his arm around her shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. We're okay," he assured her. "We'll wait till they're gone, like you said, and then we can get out of here."
