Re: Jurassic Park: Gwen & Peter
Peter didn't mind all the whispered details, not one bit. Okay, so he knew most of it already, but it was kind of cute and so very Gwen to go full science mode when faced with real live dinosaurs. He let her talk, just like he let her tug on him, start and stop, to keep from scaring the three parasaurolophus away. Like any wild animal, he figured slow and quiet was the way to go; he had no idea how long it'd been since humans were around either. Best to be cautious.
"Holy crap." There were more past the trees, a bunch more, and he would've stopped even if she hadn't tugged on him. On some level he remembered that they weren't just here to observe, but just like her he was too caught up in just looking. Well, staring. Whatever. "Yeah?" It was a whisper, when she talked about their crests. "What are they actually for?" Okay, so he knew, but he liked hearing her talk about stuff.
He sort of froze up when the movement sounded behind them, and he moved even slower than Gwen, not out of fear or anything, but a desire to not spook whatever it was. Another one of the same dinosaur, but smaller, and super close. Peter tried not to breathe too loudly.
Harmless as it seemed, he still wanted to tell her to be careful. But he didn't want to speak, not even a whisper, so he just watched as she crouched, tearing up a handful of grass and stretching out her hand in offering. The parasaurolophus inspected the grass, as though deciding whether or not it wanted some, and Peter wound his fingers unthinkingly in the back of her shirt.
A second later, and it was eating the grass right out of her hand. Those fingers tugged, wordless excitement, and he grinned. This was so cool.
