Re: Jurassic Park: Gwen & Peter
Despite the presence of big bad carnivores somewhere, Peter wasn't really worried either. Or afraid. Okay, so maybe he--they--had veered off course a little, but they weren't that lost. As long as they were still in the herbivore area, they'd be fine. And since he knew Gwen wasn't going to backtrack and give up, he wasn't either. Dinosaurs had been through the copse, that much was clear, and so there had to be something to find past all the trees and foliage.
Nope, no giving up happening here.
He was so focused on getting ahead that he came to a halt belatedly, once he realized there was more than just greenery ahead. Beating Gwen to the clearing, trying to explain his utter failure, all that was forgotten as he stared. He didn't even think when she came up behind him and tugged him toward her; he went, no hesitation. Boundaries? Who needed boundaries? Not him. She felt familiar against his back, and okay, maybe he smiled a little when she pressed her chin to his shoulder. Just to himself.
"Yeah. Wow." It was an awed echo, because seeing dinosaurs on TV was one thing. Even going to museums, that wasn't like this; up close. Real. And very much alive. Peter moved when she nudged him, slow, careful steps closer, not wanting to spook the three up ahead. It was an unthinking thing, really, reaching back, making sure she was still there. They were big, and loud, but he wasn't the least bit afraid; exhilarated, more like.
