Re: Log: Micah & Louis
He heard it before he could really start to decipher what was going on behind him. His shuffle wasn't fast, wouldn't be fast again, so he had no time to stop, to stare, to ask questions and wonder. No, Micah kept moving, away from the theater, away from Louis. There were screams behind him, the sound of water crashing, though its presence confused him more than anything else. They were plenty inland, so why was there water?
A stumble-step and Micah paused long enough to glance behind him.
A wave of water coming straight for him.
Louis standing, seemingly unaffected by the chaos going on around them.
Bodies floating, pounding against the building.
His blood ran cold at the sight, and for a brief moment, all Micah could think was that he was dealing with something he had no idea how to handle. He wasn't prepared for this, for things beyond the knowledge of regular men and women. He didn't know how to beat this.
So he did as any reasonably intelligent person would do.
He ran.
It wasn't fast, and it wasn't enough, the first bits of the wave lapping at his ankles, tugging and pulling, and then it hit him. Hard against his back, his cane swept out of his hands. There was a moment where he shouted before the breath left him and he was swept beneath that water and pulled down, hard and fast and disoriented.
