Re: Gotham: Penny & Jake & Clem
I ain't left since I saw you at the diner, honey. Figured might as well stay. [She said it easy, like that damn diner wasn't real hell in her memory, and she smiled at Jake and his offer of coffee.
If Jake hadn't been standing there, she would've inquired after Graham. She figured Penny had likely already talked to him some. But she wasn't going to bring Jake's daddy up around him, not when she knew how sensitive the subject was, and she had a feeling that man hadn't talked to the boy recent about anything at all, just like she'd thought before walking into the kitchen just now.
Clem rustled some through the fridge, and she pulled out a fruit plate and set it on the counter. She picked at wedges of things that couldn't grow local in Gotham during winter, and she licked her fingers dainty after. Being part of the Maroni, it had perks some, like real fresh fruit when the rest of the world was eating out of cans. That made her think of Marvel, of that snow that kept her up nights thinking about Graham and Shane trying to keep a baby insulated in the middle of it. Wasn't that she didn't trust those men with a baby, but she didn't trust those men with a baby.]
Hear you got a lot of snow your way. [To Penny, and then with a smile at Jake.] Jake, you fix me some coffee, honey. Real pale and real sweet.
