Gotham: Penny & Jake & Clem
[Clem listened to the boy moving himself around the space. She grew up with real big walls and real tall ceilings, and you couldn't ever hear a thing unless folks were right up on you, right at your door and ready to call your name. This was different, and it made her think of prisons and a year earlier, and she liked being able to hear him moving himself all over. She wasn't real ready to admit to herself how much that damn place with all the dying had changed her, but she was coming on real close to being able to do so, and watching Jake walk to the kitchen out of the corner of her heliotrope gaze made it settle 'neath her skin some.]
Morning, starshine. [She called it out easy, as she flipped pages on her magazine and wondered if the baby was awake. Joy, Shane said Graham had decided, and that made her smile some too, even if there was bitter living behind that smiling yet.
She wasn't thinking any about wish granting.
The knock at the door didn't come as any surprise. Likely Penny, but might be someone Maroni asking after her needing anything. Might be a neightbor. Mob buildings had a whole lot of foot traffic, but she had nothing to fear in this Diamond District building, and she called out easy.] Jake, open the door, sugar. Real likely it's your- Graham's cousin.
