[Part of her had worried that, with time, Russ would move on and forget all about her. She wasn't a kid anymore, she's grown up and changed and maybe he'd want that little girl back. But as soon as she stepped through the door, Ellie stopped worrying about that. Funny how years and years of lost time could seem like less by the second. She shrugged off her jacket next, slung it over her arm. The little boy's mother being ''messed up" troubled her; she'd seen a lot of messed up women, some with kids and some without. It made her sad, but she didn't want to push.]
