Re: Marvel: Thomas at Luke and Wren's
The sharpness in Thomas' voice made it easier to focus, at least for a few seconds. It was familiar as it was jarring, and Luke tipped his head to the side, gaze searching, trying to see past the doubt that clouded his judgment. He'd grown up over the years, changed from the boy who saw Thomas as something more than a man, something greater, but a lot of that still lingered. If he said he'd do something, Luke had the utmost faith that he both could and would do it. And so, if Thomas said he wouldn't let her come back, he trusted that he was telling the truth. Dishonesty had never been one of their issues.
He nodded. "Not here. Not now." Which was true; Luke didn't hear or see her in the house, he just remembered. Echoes from the other door, new memories overlapping old. Outside was still too risky but inside, he was okay. "I couldn't make her leave," he admitted. Even that was a huge concession to make, because he saw it as weakness, his fear, and his inability to get rid of her. He thought he should have been stronger.
But he still had to be sure that this was Thomas, even though he was weakening. He tried to think, to settle on something that would satisfy him. "How we met." It came to him suddenly; an impostor wouldn't know details. "Tell me how we met."
