Re: Quicklog, Clem's lakehouse: Graham R/Shane A
[Graham didn't do well with change. Everybody who knew him knew it, wasn't like he ever tried to pretend otherwise. He didn't roll with whatever, and he had a damn hard time looking anywhere that wasn't behind, back, into a past he tried hard to cling to. That was what he did; he clung, held tight. Letting go wasn't something he was good at. And yeah, he could've tried more than he did. He could've made more of an effort with a lot of things and a lot of people, Clem included, but it was always easier to fall back on old habits, yeah? Didn't mean part of him didn't wish he could be different. And he did care, even if he was shit at expressing it. As hard as it was to let go of Lore, he didn't know how the hell he'd live without Shane either. Clem, too, most recent. Even Jake was up there. But it was the three of them in zombies and it was like they were part of each other now, and he was realizing that the hard way, little by little.
But realization was one thing, and balancing two worlds, present and past, wasn't easy. He was caught in that struggle now. Couldn't live in the past, couldn't let go, and that made going forward a real pain. If it was up to him he wouldn't try at all, but he had people who pushed. Like Shane. People who made him want to be pushed. The baby, she changed things too. He could do his best to raise her on his own but truth be told, she needed her mother, and her mother needed her.] Didn't mean it to be like that. Giving permission. Just wanted her to know she didn't have to stay away, that I wasn't trying to keep Joy from her or nothing. [He shrugged.
The playful bump to his shoulder earned Shane a smile, and Graham actually thought about his offer.] Yeah, okay. If you're sure you two won't mind or whatever.
