Re: Quicklog, Bioshock: Elena M & Cris M
[Everything smelled like salt, like brine and blood. An ocean of metal death, and rot. When Cris reached for her with the touch of his hand for her chin, Elena instinctively drew away. She was too slow, and his fingers grazed the fine bones beneath her jaw, even when her brain echoed earlier sentiments. Don't touch me. When he touched her, she loved him, and he needed to not. He needed to stop. But she wasn't quite fast enough, or maybe didn't want to be, because Cris' fingers grazed her skin even as she leaned back. She looked up at him, black pupils swollen in the decayed honeycomb swirl of her irises. She was conscious, and she was tougher than any young(ish) mother should have had to be, but she was present. She wasn't going to faint, even if she looked pale, she swore to herself that she wouldn't. And she didn't want to wait five minutes, she wanted out of here. She wanted home, she wanted to see her Teresa, she wanted warmth. She needed to see a doctor.
With no reason that she could understand, there was wetness at her eyes when Cris wrapped his jacket around her. And she didn't mention it, she prayed he didn't even notice it, but she pulled the sleeves of his borrowed clothes on because her shivering couldn't stop. It wouldn't. She'd always been a prized shot, but with her fingers going bloodless and numb and twitchy, Elena didn't know what she would be able to do appropriately. She'd always known what to do, she'd always made the right move, and she'd saved people, and yes, yes -- she knew that she needed to get out of here and get to a doctor. She knew shock. She needed a doctor and her daughter. And then it came crashing over her, the memory of those little possessed girls with their needles and the bodies, and blood loss didnt disorient her to the point of delusion, but it made her worry about her little girl. Her baby, the most important thing she'd ever made in her entire life. Trears spilled silently down her cheeks, and Elena huddled into the borrowed jacket.
She didn't say anything with Cris asked if she was ready to go, but she nodded si, and she was steady on her feet when she stood.]
