Clem wasn't used to crazy folks. It could be said her whole damn family was loony as birds, but they weren't like this. "You said you wanted to use the phone," she reminded the woman, but this wasn't getting her nowhere, and Clem wasn't going to get a footache on account of some homeless woman who couldn't figure out if she wanted to phone home or get a conditioning treatment.
She'd been real patient. She had. She'd tried real hard to do right.
She waited a few seconds longer, to see if the woman came up with anything worth saying, but all she did was contradict herself again. "Alright, sugar, you have it your own way. Don't go shooting any boys for their condoms now."
She took a few steps, and then she sighed, real put-out with the whole damn world. Pretty phone in her hand, she typed on the journals.
