Re: This is why Clem employs a chauffeur: Clem & Evie
Clem figured Gotham was special, and maybe this was just an example of it. But it said a whole lot about her upbringing (and about how going back home had reset her being scared on account of zombie lockers) that she didn't look worried any as she stood there, listening to this woman mention things she ain't ever heard of. The teenagers were gone, and this woman wouldn't be daft enough to go shooting the likes of her.
Woman was crazy as bats, though. That made her grin, on account of it being kind of appropriate.
"No, sugar, I meant you. You look like you need some lip balm and a good conditioning treatment." She reached into the inside pocket of her fur coat, and she pulled out a twenty, because she could be real generous sometimes. She held it way it, her fingers on the very end, so there wasn't any touching during transfer. "Maybe get your hairs cut some. The ends look like they need trimming. Something angled down your cheeks might look nicer."
Then the homeless woman asked about the phone, and Clem looked real unsure; her phone was real pretty. Custom pink, and the case had diamonds on. Dirt would be hard to get off those diamonds. "Who you got to call? Your people got phones?" She sounded real surprised by that. How did homeless folks pay for phones?
