Pepper did not expect which of the men in the diner was the right one. They all wore much of the same thing, in much of the same palette of colors and she was as immediately obvious amongst them as she was very evidently looking for someone. Pepper was not magical: she could feel nothing of what was in the space. Had she extended her ability, perhaps she could have identified that there was metal where there wasn't meant to be metal at all, could have felt the difference between one and the next. But there was an equal likelihood of simultaneously inciting all the cutlery in the place to come over and make friends, and she held the extraneous sense at bay, much as someone might hold a sneeze.
Her smile was immediate and luminescent. Pepper smiled easily, the polite bland look for business meetings and the warmer kindle-lit that was entirely unprofessional. This was the latter rather than the former and it was directed entirely his way. "I think it was enough of an introduction for several meetings. Hello, Thomas."
