Re: Gotham: Jake & Clem
[She let it all go real easy, like she knew about not pushing. She might think she didn't have a maternal bone in her whole damn body, but she didn't have to work any at knowing when to let the boy come to things on his own. If he wanted talking, they'd talk. If he didn't, she'd wait on him to be ready some. Least he knew there was something going on, and that made her feel a sight better about not fessing right there and then.]
There's money in the kitchen drawer, if you need. Had plenty when I ended up here, and not short of a thing. [Which she figured he'd believe easy, rich as her daddy was back home. The apartment wasn't real large, but that had been by design, not on account of not being able to afford something nicer.] You take what you need, and you don't worry none. We could eat caviar every day 'til we both creak, and we'd be fine still.
[She glanced at the painting things, and her smile was quiet, like it wasn't anything to see. But she was glad he had something that mattered to him. She'd never found things she liked more than having her own way and being adored, and she thought having something his was a good thing, no matter what the heck else was going on in the world.]
You need anything and I ain't around, you call Shane. He's still ornery as can be, but he's dependable as taxes. [She figured he knew Shane from being small in Nevada, seeing as Shane and Lore had been close as best friends and real fond.]
