Re: Gotham: Jake & Clem
Think he felt like he had purpose there. Something he was doing that he was good at. Keeping us all living. Here, there wasn't a thing for any of us when we came out. We all floundered, but Graham more than most.
[That was all true, even if it didn't hit on the things that were too bad. She didn't want to tell this boy his daddy saw his momma all over, and she didn't want to add on that she'd just made it worse by taking after Lore so damn much. She still remembered arguing with Shane in that cell, when he explained it all to her. How Graham couldn't see real, and how he saw Lore when he looked on her, and she remembered how that felt. She wasn't bringing that up to this boy that had lost his momma. She'd lost her sister, true, and Graham had lost his wife. But losing a momma you loved, young like that, Clem didn't think any of them had a lick of it worse than Jake had. He lost his daddy too, and losing that small was like losing every damn thing.
She and Graham could deal better, and she believed that as well as she believed the sun was going to rise come morning.]
This place, there are parties sometimes. We don't get to choose about going, and this one was all about memories. We saw old things, and it messed with folks' heads. Coming back from that wasn't so easy, sugar.
