Re: Hallway: Hels & Gwen
Life is always messy. If it was freshly ironed straight and clean all the time, it'd be horribly boring. Lies just make it messier, in different ways. Deceiving someone often causes more problems than it cures, unless you're in a life or death situation. In that case, lie your ass off. [If someone's life was at risk and the only way to save them was to lie? Then she'd lie, lie, lie, and lie some more if it meant preventing the loss of someone she loved.]
Damian should have been a priority. [Pause. Bite. Chew. A scrunch of her nose as the food began to lose its flavor.] I don't think it would have mattered if he'd felt like he was a priority, there wouldn't have been a list of who was more important to Bruce if Damian had felt like he mattered, but he didn't and there was a list. And every time Bruce spent more time with someone else rather than spend it with Damian, it hurt. [She knew how that felt, how those little wounds opened up and bled like they hit a vein every time. The slice fell from her fingers again and she gave a little shake of her head at the next question.]
No, I don't want you involved in that. [A small, wry smile. It wouldn't be a lethal encounter for him either, but she didn't want Gwen involved in what she was going to do.] Damian made it very clear to her. But, the problem isn't with her so much as it is with Bruce and how he treats everyone else in relation to her. He snarled at me for saying her name - and I didn't even say anything mean about her. I know he doesn't do the same when she talks about us. And yeah, I told him as much. If she cares, she doesn't care enough to make a difference, so it's a moot point.
