Re: quicklog: luke/wren, silent hill.
[The way she smiled at him, bright sunshine and carefree, made his throat get tight and his eyes sting. Luke wanted so, so badly to believe that they'd get out. He tried so, so hard to not be afraid. He was brave. He was strong. But the truth was that deep, deep down he was terrified, terrified of losing Wren and being stuck here forever, terrified of dying and failing the one person he'd sworn to always protect. She was beautiful, even in this hell, but her dress was a disaster and something had hurt her and a monster was holding her hand. It made him want to scream and never, ever stop.]
It's not okay. [He tried to keep his voice steady. The bad woman was behind him, now, her whispers like knives in his ear, and he thought he could feel blood trickling. Maybe not. He looked a mess, too, bloody and dirty, and he wasn't even sure where--or if--he was hurt. And he knew, he knew the water would be cold. Freezing, like ice, and you remember, darling, don't you?
He shivered involuntarily, just thinking about it.
But Luke made himself move closer, because Wren was sitting way too close to the water and he didn't trust that the child thing wouldn't pull her in and try to drown her. The monsters here did her bidding, and she wanted him to watch his wife suffer. She wanted him to watch her die.] I don't know where Evie and Jack are. [His fingers twitched more, more, and he imagined shooting the little monster, watching its blood and its brains spray out over the water. He stopped beside her, water just lapping at his shoes, and even that was cold, cold, too cold.] We can't stay. We have to move. It's not safe. [Thump, drag. Thump, drag.] The pyramid man is too close. Please. Please.
[He held out a hand.] Let go of it, and come with me.
